The Proptec Sprayer is the newest in the Columbia line of high quality farm equipment produced by Blueline Manufacturing. It uses the Proptec hydraulic rotary atomizer heads designed by Michigan State University. These heads give a very uniform droplet size of about 75 microns. These small particles give very complete coverage, in many cases 1 to 3 times better than conventional air blast sprayers. This superior coverage gives you the ability to lower the amount of chemical you apply per acre, in many cases up to 33% or more. The heads are mounted on the boom to allow for the spray to be directed to the target from several directions. In this way the air blast from the heads meet at the target and collide, which causes the air to vortex or swirl to give complete coverage on all sides of the leaves. Because the spray patterns come together, drift is greatly reduced. This simple system allows for easy calibration with rates from 8 to 200 gpa at speeds up to 6 mph.
The Proptec Sprayer has a high strength tubular frame, in addition to an all hydraulic drive system that does away with PTO shafts. This allows for very sharp turns with no reduction of PTO speed. All electric over hydraulic booms with functions for up and down, folding of the booms, and lifting of the booms side to side for turning of side hills. Both single and double axle designs are available with 200 or 300 gallon stainless steel tanks. The self priming hydraulically driven Hypro centrifugal pump is designed to allow for run dry conditions for a short time.
This sprayer can pay for itself in two years on the average sized vineyard and give superior coverage at the same time. As well as being simple to operate and maintain, it gives the versatility of low or high rates per acre and the superior coverage and low drift of more complicated systems.
